Airton Cozzolino Lopes, six-time kitesurfing world champion, was practically born with fins for feet and wind in his hair. Growing up in Ponta Preta, Cape Verde where the winds across the Atlantic make for some top-notch surfing conditions which set him on a path to winning 6 Kitesurf World Championships.

Growing up alongside the legendary Mitu Monteiro, the pioneer of strapless kitesurfing and a trailblazer in the sport, Airton found himself in the company of greatness. Together, they pushed the boundaries of what was deemed possible with a kite and a strapless surfboard.

Skipping school to catch the perfect swell became his signature move, a rebellious dance with the ocean that set his soul on fire and earned him a few raised eyebrows from the grown-ups.

But hey, who needs textbooks when you've got the world's greatest classroom right at your doorstep? With every flip, twist, and turn, Airton wasn't just riding waves—he was writing his own legend, one barrel at a time.
